Queen Palms are everywhere in Palm Beach County residential landscaping — and they are messy. Constant frond drop and heavy seed pods make them the most frequently trimmed palm we handle.
Tree Maid is a single-fleet team based in Lake Worth Beach (Greenacres), FL. The tree experts who assess your tree are the same crew who do the work — and because we trim, remove, grind and replant, we can tell you honestly which one you actually need.
Trimming: What Correct Work Looks Like
- Two visits a year is typical for a mature Queen, mostly to manage pods and dead fronds over driveways and walkways.
- Seed pods removed before they drop. They stain pavers, clog pool filters and germinate into volunteer palms across the bed.
- Do not over-strip. A Queen cut back to a few upright fronds is weakened and looks wrong for years.
- Nutrient deficiency shows in the fronds. Frizzled or yellowing new growth is usually manganese or potassium, not a trimming problem — cutting more off makes it worse.
Removal: When It Is the Right Call
- Lighter and easier to remove than Royals; often taken whole.
- Common reasons: storm lean, chronic nutrient decline, or simply the wrong palm too close to a pool.
- Replacement is straightforward — we remove and replant in the same visit where the client wants continuity.
Removal includes full cleanup and haul-away as standard. Stump grinding is quoted separately because it is a different machine and a different job.
Health and Risk Warning Signs
Queen Palms decline visibly when the soil runs short on manganese. If new fronds emerge frizzled and stunted, that is a feeding problem an arborist should look at before you spend on removal. Book a tree health and risk assessment if you are unsure — it costs less than a removal and often avoids one.
Residential Properties
On residential lots the constraint is almost never the tree — it is what sits under it. Pool cages, screen enclosures, paver driveways and irrigation all change the method. We rig sections down rather than dropping them, mat the drop zone on irrigated turf, and leave the site chipped and blown down the same day. Where an HOA governs the property, we check the architectural rules before any cut.
Commercial, HOA and Property Management
For associations, commercial parks and property managers we issue named-insured certificates of insurance to your management company before mobilising, schedule outside peak amenity hours, and provide board-ready written scopes with photographs so approvals do not stall. Across a portfolio we hold consistent pruning specification and pricing, so the streetscape stays uniform building to building.
Replacement and Replanting
Because we are one fleet, we can remove and replant in the same visit — the right species for the spot, at a sensible distance from structures and hardscape. See tree installation and landscape design for how we choose replacements.

Trimming Queen Palms (Syagrus romanzoffiana)
Seed Pods Before They Drop
Queen palms throw heavy fruit stalks that stain driveways, foul pools, sprout seedlings across the lawn and draw rats. Taking the pods before they ripen saves far more cleanup than the trim itself costs.
No Hurricane Cut
Stripping a queen palm back to a few upright fronds is still sold across the Palm Beaches. It starves the palm, narrows the trunk and makes storm failure more likely, not less. We trim to a full, natural crown.
Deficiency, Not a Trim Problem
Frizzled or yellowing new growth on a queen palm usually means a manganese or potassium shortage in our sandy soil. We will tell you when the fix is fertiliser rather than a saw.
Palm Tree Service in Palm Beach County, Florida — Not Texas
To be clear about where we work: Tree Maid is a Florida company, based at 97 W Arch Dr., Greenacres, Florida 33467, serving Palm Beach County, Florida only. We do not operate in Texas.
We mention it because searches for palm tree work in Fort Worth, Texas sometimes surface Florida companies, and the two markets could not be more different. Texas palms are mostly cold-hardy Windmill and Sabal in a climate that freezes. South Florida palms — Royal, Coconut, Queen, Foxtail — are subtropical, grow year round, and face salt exposure, lethal bronzing and hurricanes. The pruning calendar, the species knowledge and the storm work are entirely different disciplines.
